The First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, appealed, this Thursday, in the city of Praia, Cape Verde, for the public discussion of gender equality on the continent, in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations and 2063 of the African Union.

“Gender equality is an issue that must be at the center of public discussion in Africa, not only because it is a human rights issue, but also because it is fundamental to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”, said Ana Dias Lourenço. , in the high-level panel on “Global Influence and Leadership of the First Ladies”, which takes place in Cape Verde, on the sidelines of the 6th edition of the Tropics Business Summit.

Female leaders are of “vital importance”, for the affirmation of Africa in the world, through their voice, strength and conviction, stressed Ana Dias Lourenço, who appealed to all African women to fight for their “legitimate place”, for Africa to recognize the true role and mission to be played by each woman.

It therefore appealed to its counterparts in other countries to use their influence to resolve issues that affect the social, economic, environmental and technological well-being of women.
