Africa-Press – Angola. The operational readiness of the Defense Forces of the Countries of the Community for the Development of Southern Africa (SADC) and the economic stability of the region was highlighted this Tuesday, in Ondjiva, by the deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Apollo Ndinoulenga.

Apolo Ndinoulega made this statement at the opening ceremony of the working meeting between the bodies of the General Inspectorate of National Defense of Angola and Namibia on the elaboration of the guide for granting certificates and medals of honour.

On the occasion, he acknowledged that the SADC Defense Inspection working group has been promoting transparency in the management of resources in the Southern African region, contributing to the firmness of the troops and the economic stability of the countries.

“His accomplishments are already known, such as the inspections of the SADC Defense Forces and Alert Brigade exercises, as well as the evaluation of the functioning of the Regional Peacekeeping Center (RPTC), in Zimbabwe”, he said.

The vice-governor underlined that these activities have added value to the organization and operation of the Working Group, with a view to improving the standards of operational procedures.

He recalled that due to Covid-19, in 2020 it was not possible to conclude the characterized works, but efforts continued to be made to prepare the grant guide that joins the two countries in Cunene for its consolidation.

He also recognized that the mission is of paramount importance, as the DIWG has these two founding countries Angola and Namibia, as a stronghold of the group that must complete the document to be presented at the next annual meeting.

He referred that the work is a starting point and recognition for all inspectors general of the Defense Forces of the Region, who made a great contribution to its prestige and aggrandizement.

Apolo Ndinoulega asked for greater dedication from the participants in the two-day meeting, promising success in the conclusion of this important document that will be produced.

The Angolan delegation is represented by the Inspector General of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, General Gouveia João Sá Miranda.

On the other hand, the delegation is headed by the Inspector General of the Namibian Defense Forces, Brigadier General Ainima Blasius.

The SADC Member Countries are: South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Seychelles, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

It was created in 1992, to achieve economic development, peace and security, growth, reduce poverty, raise the level and quality of life of the populations of Southern Africa, and support disadvantaged social strata, through regional integration.
