Africa-Press – Angola. The Home Affairs Secretary of State for Technical Assurance, Cristino Ndeitunga, said on Tuesday in Luanda that the sector will strengthen public security and citizenship actions, as well as awareness campaigns on the consequences of road accidents, for the well-being of citizens.

Speaking at the opening of the festivities alluding to the 46th anniversary of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), to be marked on June 22, the Secretary of State said that awareness campaigns against the vandalization of public property will also be launched, with the participation of civil society, among other activities.

Regarding the sector”s anniversary, he stressed that the day will also serve to recognize and exalt the staff who have stood out over the 46 years of existence of the ministerial department.

“This anniversary is celebrated in a special year, in which Angola celebrates 50 years of its Independence. It is a commemorative cycle that is intended not only to celebrate, but also to reflect, honor and mobilize”, he stressed.

Under the motto “Serve with Integrity and Protect with Authority”, the celebrations include a set of activities, including the inauguration of strategic infrastructures, pedestrian race, aerobic gymnastics session, chess tournament, gathering on the “Historical Path of MININT and the Consolidation of Public Security as a Pillar of National Sovereignty”, musical soirée, among others.

The Ministry of the Interior was founded in 1979, with the aim of ensuring internal security and public order, and its creation took place in the midst of the post-independence context, marked by political instability and the need for state structuring.

Its foundation aimed to consolidate the police, immigration and civil protection services under a single government entity, allowing greater coordination in security actions and the fight against organized crime.
