Huambo develops urban commerce reorganization program

Africa-Press – Angola. A program to reorganize commerce in the city of Huambo, which aims to stop disorderly sales on the streets, sidewalks and avenues, will be developed, within days, by the Administration of the municipality of Huambo.

The information was provided to the press this Wednesday by the administrator of the municipality of Huambo, Azevedo Manuel Cambiambia, after guiding the 1st ordinary session of the local Administration.

The administrator said this is an initiative that will allow better movement of people and goods on sidewalks, as well as regularity, fluidity and comfort in traffic, in addition to reducing trash and crime on public roads.

He added that the program will counter the unregulated sales that can be seen throughout the urban center of Huambo, between avenues and close to public institutions.

He said that work on placing vendors in pre-defined markets for this purpose will soon begin, which will make the urban area of Huambo free from disorderly commerce.

Azevedo Manuel Cambiambia informed that the improvement of many informal markets is included in the integrated infrastructure plan, with the laying of asphalt carpet.

To this end, he asked for the collaboration of residents to make the city increasingly better organized and inhabited, without various constraints, which put everyone’s health and mobility at risk.

He reiterated the development of public lighting works in the surroundings and periphery, the improvement of main, secondary and tertiary roads, the drinking water distribution network, basic sanitation, the maintenance of gardens and other green spaces, for a city suitable for inhabitants and visitors.

The ordinary session of the Administration of the municipality of Huambo analyzed, among others, the social and economic situation of the Joaquim Kapango sector, crime, revenue collected in 2023 and the General State Budget for the 2024 financial year.

The municipality of Huambo, one of 11 in the province with the same name, has an estimated population of 934 thousand 127 inhabitants, living in 433 neighborhoods, distributed in three municipalities, Chipipa, Calima and Sede, the latter with six sectors (Bandeira, Cacilhas, Capango, Nzaji, Xavier Samacau and Vilinga).
