Africa-Press – Angola. The film market in the province of Huambo could soon have a new locally produced film, entitled “The Five Questions of Life”, written by Angolan director Rogério Victoriano, in the production phase.
It is a drama, whose trailer was presented, on Friday, in the city of Huambo, to cinema lovers, as part of the celebrations for the city’s 111 years of existence, which take place on the 21st of this month.
On the occasion, the executive director of the film, to be produced by Oficina da Vida, Sabino Chitambo Jeremias “Mister Defeito”, made it known that it aims to contribute to the challenges of preserving Huambo’s cultural heritage and the development of the province’s film market.
“Through the project, we intend to bring, to movie theaters, the reality of Huambo from a cultural, historical and other point of view, in order to help preserve the historical-cultural heritage of the region and in the process of moralizing society, from teenagers, young people and adults”, he highlighted.
According to him, the intention is to pay homage to Huambo, on the occasion of the 111 years of existence of its capital, with the same name, and to allow natives and their descendants residing outside the province, especially abroad, to be able to have, through film, contact with the history, experiences and reality of the province, through the five questions of life whose answers will be obtained as it unfolds.
To this end, he said the recording of a feature-length film, lasting more than an hour, is planned during the month of October and its official release will be in the first fortnight of November.
Once completed and officially launched, he highlighted that it will be shown in the country’s main cinemas, in order to increasingly publicize the stories and socio-cultural realities of Huambo.
He informed that the scenes of the film, which will involve new talents in cinematography and whose registrations are currently taking place, for the casting next week, will be recorded in the most historic places in each neighborhood, city and municipalities in the province.
The characters, he continued, will be identified by the names of historic neighborhoods in the city of Huambo and municipalities in the province, such as Kanata, Benfica, Kanhe, Bom Pastor.
The film, according to the source, will involve more than 65 elements including characters, directors, producers, production assistants and logistics personnel.
The film market in the province of Huambo has no record of more than ten films recorded and produced locally in the last two decades.
Among those produced at this time, the films “Where is God?” and “Born in the Dark” stand out.
