Africa-Press – Angola. Five cases of embezzlement and other illicit activities by public managers are being processed in the justice bodies of the province of Cuanza Norte, initiated by the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE).

The information was provided this Thursday by the provincial delegate of IGAE, Simão Mateus, who considered the poor quality of work execution and its incompatibility in relation to the funds applied as the main factors that motivated the opening of the processes.

In the path of monitoring the management of public funds, he highlighted the recovery of a vehicle, 10 motorbikes and other means in the improper possession of former public managers.

Although the province does not yet have a call center for anonymous calls to report acts contrary to the law, the resource has been use of the alternative number 943049348, where citizens send messages about irregularities recorded in the activities of public institutions and managers.

He pointed out the non-conformities in the holding of public examinations for entry into the public service, irregularities in the execution of public works, poor service at the level of health institutions and records, as sectors with the highest number of complaints sent to the IGAE.

Simão Mateus said that the IGAE in the province responds, on average, to 30 complaints/month, from which subsequent investigative steps are triggered and when the suspicion of illicit acts is certified, the case is forwarded to the justice bodies for due treatment.

He praised the increase in citizens’ reporting culture, as a factor that has contributed to strengthening supervision, prevention and combating the embezzlement of public funds at provincial level.

IGAE’s activity is limited to the entire province of Cuanza Norte, both from the point of view of monitoring works and managing public funds.

With a national dimension, the IGAE is an auxiliary body of the Holder of the Executive Power for the inspection, audit and supervision of the administrative activity of all bodies of the direct and indirect administration of the State and autonomous and independent.
