Africa-Press – Angola. One thousand and 184 occupational infections were registered from January to the present date by the General Labor Inspectorate in Cuando Cubango, compared to 731 in 2022.
The information was provided, Thursday, by the head of Safety, Hygiene and Health at Work at IGT in Cuando Cubango, Augusto Liula, when carrying out the 2023 labor balance.
Of the infractions, explained the person responsible, the commerce sector had 888, service provision 130, industry 21, health 32, education 38, hotels and tourism 18, transport 19, construction 38 and energy and water, with 19 transgressions.
Among the infractions detected, the aspect of not registering workers with Social Security was the one that was most frequently observed, followed by the failure to prepare and fix the working hours map and the inspection report.
As a result of the infractions, 15 fines were imposed, which resulted in the collection of five million 676 thousand 506 kwanzas for the State Coffers.
In the period in question, the IGT received 42 requests for mediation of conflicts between companies and workers (23 less), of which 15 were resolved, 11 sent to court, due to the complexity of the process, as well as an equal number of cases with no outcome, due to withdrawal of the offended.
According to Augusto Liula, this year the IGT recorded four work accidents (two less than the previous year), all of the light nature, as well as carrying out 187 visits (169 less), 172 of which were social (158 less) and 15 technical (less 11).
He pointed out as the main objectives of the inspections the improvement of working conditions, with a focus on health, safety and hygiene at work, preventing illnesses and accidents at work.
The head of Safety, Hygiene and Health at Work at IGT in Cuando Cubango outlined the challenges for next year to be reinforcing inspection actions, increasing awareness campaigns to publicize the General Labor Law, and other aspects inherent to a healthy environment between employers and workers.
The provincial services of the General Labor Inspectorate employ 16 staff, of which 10 are inspectors and six administrative staff.
