Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of State for the Social Area, Dalva Ringote Allen, this Thursday inaugurated the North Submarine Cable System (UNSC) in Cabinda province.

The system will allow for the expansion and interconnection of the national fiber optic network to all provinces in the country.

On the occasion, Dalva Ringote Allen said that the act constitutes a landmark for allowing regions of neighboring countries to have access to these services.

The official underlined that the Submarine Cable System is an important infrastructure in the context of the national economy and that it will leverage other sectors such as agriculture, energy and education.

At the opening ceremony, which took place on the Magui Seco beach, the Minister of State called for good use, reasonable and controlled use of the system, advising that it be maintained for the good of all.

On his turn, the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Augusto, who witnessed the act, reiterated that the system will allow interconnection with the rest of the country, uniting Angola de Cabinda to Cunene in telecommunications.

He referred that the project makes the country’s telecommunications, in the current world context, a value that allows its growth and development to reach other countries taking into account the dynamism of the sector in all segments.

“The Government’s commitment is the growth of this important area, in which some achievements stand out, such as Angosat-2, which is allowing an environment for development and business and partnerships with other countries in the southern region”, underlined the minister.

The inauguration of Unitel’s North Submarine Cable System, according to Mário Augusto, promotes indicators of telecommunications development in the country, with signs in the symbiosis of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication with telecommunications companies, in this case Unitel.

The Unitel system, inaugurated yesterday in Cabinda, is a planned network of cables that connect the provinces of Cabinda and Zaire through two different routes, where one segment uses repeaters that will connect the municipality of Cacongo/Cabinda with N’Zeto /Zaire, while another segment, without the use of repeaters, will connect Cabinda and the municipality of Soyo/Zaire.

With over a thousand kilometers in length and a performance capacity of around 38.4 Tbits/s, the UNSC cable will provide greater quality of communication in the province of Cabinda, promote digital transformation throughout the country and strongly support the promotion of the national ICT development strategy.

Unitel landed the Cabo Submarino Norte (UNSC) in Cabinda on June 11, 2022 to improve telecommunications services.

Attending the act were the governor of Cabinda, Mara Quiosa, the chairman of the General Assembly of Unitel, Aguinaldo Jaime, the deputy governors, members of the local government and traditional authorities.
