Africa-Press – Angola. The expansion of development poles, to guarantee an efficient articulation with the logistical distribution centers is fundamental for the reduction of operational costs between buyers and sellers, defended in Lubango, the director of the Integrated Development Office of Luanda, Dorivaldo Adão .
There are two development poles in operation in the country, which, if well guided, according to the director, will allow greater regional integration, in the case of the development poles of Viana (Luanda) and Catumbela (Benguela).
The official was speaking during a lecture on the theme “The importance of distribution logistics centers in maintaining the quality of products”, at the III Consultative Council of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, held on the 27th and 28th of April in Lubango.
He referred that the country should revitalize transport connections, rehabilitation of infrastructures, involve the private sector and border control in the process, guidelines of the Southern African Development Community in logistical matters.
He declared that the logistics centers have the role of shortening distances, they are challenges for countries like Angola, since their infrastructures are in the construction and rehabilitation phase.
He stressed that the logistics centers have the ability to add value to the product, reduce the cost of transport, as well as manpower, increasing their competitiveness, but they will only be able to develop their true role if they are properly aligned with the development poles .
Dorivaldo Adão informed that the accelerated pace of growth of the Angolan economy requires an evolution of the logistics sector, which allows the efficient movement of people and goods, thus supporting the sustainable development of the country.
He added that the current state of maturity raises the level of costs incurred with logistics, estimating that this figure represents more than 10 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
“Logistics ensures the flow of products and information in economic transactions, facilitating sales around the world”, he advanced.
He explained that the logistics and distribution centers are warehouses that receive consolidated loads from different suppliers, grouped loads and then dispatched. A logistics process only performs well when its operating cost is low, and products or services are delivered on time.
One of the great advantages of logistics and distribution centres, according to the source, is the centralization of products that can benefit the logistics process, from the supplier to the final consumer, so Angola needs to invest in building and expanding distribution logistics centres.
He stressed that distribution logistics centers have implications for the economic growth of any country and have a positive or negative impact on the free movement of people and goods, as well as being important for maintaining the quality of products.
