Africa-Press – Angola. The Instituto Superior Técnico Militar has already trained 1,261 specialists in Engineering, Nursing and Medicine, of which 25 percent are women, informed the Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, General Egídio de Sousa Santos “Disciplina”.

Speaking on Wednesday at the graduation ceremony for cadets who completed higher military education, he said that since its creation in 2008 to date, the institution has trained 945 engineers, 280 doctors and 36 nurses.

Also according to the Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, of this indicator, 56 are specialists from friendly countries, namely Cape Verde, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé and Príncipe.

With regard to the female gender, he explained that 25 percent of the current indicator have already been trained, which constitutes pride for largely satisfying the targets set by regional and international organizations on gender equality based on meritocracy.

He also underlined that the moment is of great satisfaction for all the direct and indirect players in the training process of the new personnel of the Angolan Armed Forces, from the general direction, teachers, students, support staff, to the prevailing dedication and spirit of overcoming obstacles.

The FAA Chief of Staff believes that, with the injection of these new senior staff trained in Medicine, Engineering and Nursing, the country will take firm and safe steps in strengthening the technical capacities essential to the progressive modernization and professionalization of the Angolan Armed Forces, so to make them capable of fulfilling their important mission in any theater of military operations.

He warned staff not to let their guard down in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has devastated all countries in the world since the end of 2019, given the signal that is still seen on a relatively small scale.

On the other hand, he specified that the Angolan Armed Forces are an institution, where sublime values ​​are promoted and practiced, such as patriotism, total dedication in the fulfillment of military duties, without regard to sacrifices.

He added that it is for this reason that society expects a civic attitude from each trainee in the barracks and on the public road. He exhorted troops to use digital platforms as communication, interaction and scientific research tools with great responsibility given the set of principles and norms of military discipline.

He said that graduates in Engineering and Medicine, taught at the Instituto Superior Técnico Militar, have always demonstrated their technical and professional competence in the units, establishments and other bodies where they work.

He was confident that recent graduates will also transmit guarantees that the investment made will have a positive return.
