Inter forces fourth game in national basketball play-offs

Africa-Press – Angola. Interclube beat 1.o de Agosto this Friday, by 105-103, in the third game of the play-off semi-final, the best of five, of the National Senior Men’s Basketball Championship, forcing the fourth match.

In the match, played at the 28 de Fevereiro pavilion, in Luanda, the host team won at half-time, by 36-29, after a pressing entry in which the initial advantage of 8-0 arrived.

After having lost the first two challenges, which took place at the Cidadela pavilion, by 102-108 and 78-102, respectively, the “police” group prevented the opponent from achieving a third victory and qualifying for the final, without resorting to the two remaining challenges, in the modality tour also nicknamed “broom”.

The history of the match, totally balanced, is, above all, marked by emotion in the final moments when there was a tie at 103 points and possession of the ball for 1.o de Agosto, with the clock pointing 51 seconds to the final whistle.

When the ball was replaced, the “agostinos” attack failed to launch and, in response, Interclube baseman Emanuel Quezada, with two points, led the play-offs by 1-2, overall.

After being dominated in the first period, the “military” turned the situation around with victory in the second by six points of difference (57-51).

In the third period, it was demonstrated how balanced the end of the game would be due to the alternation in the score until the hosts managed to distance themselves by 11 points of difference (84-73).

US baseman Emanuel Quezada and center Valdelício Joaquim were at the base of Inter’s rise.

The two teams will return to the 28 de Fevereiro pavilion on Saturday at 6 pm for the fourth game of the five planned in the play-off, the best of five.

Despite the defeat, Hermenegildo Santos, from 1.o de Agosto, was the best scorer of the match, with 26 points, followed by his colleague, Nicol Clarettch, with 21.

With refereeing by Francisco Tando, assisted by Mbunga Pedro and António Samuel, the teams scored as follows:
