Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Juan Carlos Salazar, sent a letter to the Minister of Transport in which he recognizes and applauds the commitment, effort and investment that the Angolan Government has been making in the modernization of the civil Aviation.

In the letter addressed to the Minister of Transport, Ricardo Viegas D’Abreu, Carlos Salazar, recognizes and applauds the work that the Government of Angola has been carrying out with a view to modernizing and efficiency in its civil aviation sector.

“ICAO applauds the effort, investment and commitment that the Government of Angola has dedicated to the modernization and training of civil aviation in recent years. I highlight the investments made in the airport infrastructure, in the improvement of operations and in the professional training of its airline, in the restructuring of the provision of navigation services and the meteorological service, which demonstrate the continuous desire to improve the quality of the services provided and the connection to priority destinations in the global market”, underlines Juan Carlos Salazar.

In the same letter, this official informs that ICAO is available to continue supporting Angola in the field of supervision and security, with a view to making the country an important aviation hub in Africa. “Our organization is committed to supporting Angola through the assistance provided by our Technical Cooperation Office and the East Africa Regional Office in Nairobi. We are confident that as this collaboration proceeds, the industry, supervisory systems and the expansion of connectivity to other destinations from Angola will continue to elevate its position as one of the most important aviation hubs in Africa”.

For Ricardo Viegas d’Abreu, ICAO’s position, expressed directly by its secretary general, represents a vote of confidence in the work in progress and opens doors for the results of the next safety audit to be carried out by the organization in Angola to be positive. “Having met with ICAO’s top officials at its 41st General Assembly, recently held in Canada, I am certain that this is a partnership that greatly contributes to the improvement of our civil aviation and to position it as one of the most respected in Africa. And I am very confident in the results that we will receive from the security audit to be carried out by ICAO in December and of which we will know the final results in March 2023. Basically, we believe that with partners like these, forward is the way”.
