Africa-Press – Angola. Twenty-five million and 60 thousand Kwanzas were collected, in 2023, by the Tax Office of Caxito, Bengo province, with the collection of the Motor Vehicle Tax (IVM).
This value represents an increase of 273.2 percent compared to the previous period in which six million 714 thousand Kwanzas were collected, the head of registration and revenue collection at the Caxito Tax Office, Adão Sebastião Ngangula, told.
Face-to-face and electronic awareness raising activities and a change in taxpayer awareness contributed to the collection of this amount.
According to the person responsible, the possibility of non-face-to-face payment of the IVM has also been allowing more motor vehicle owners to make their contribution, avoiding fines and interest for non-compliance.
He recalled that owners of motor vehicles that are inoperative must also pay the IVM, as this tax is levied on ownership of the asset, unlike the old circulation tax, which was levied on the use of public roads.
This year, the Caxito tax office intends to reach the value of 31 million Kwanzas with the collection of the tax.
Therefore, it is reinforcing awareness-raising activities in Panguila, central to Capari and Caxito.
