Africa-Press – Angola. Four social impact infrastructures were inaugurated Monday in the municipality of Jamba, Huíla province.
It is a rehabilitated and expanded municipal hospital, a school with 12 classrooms, the municipal market and three administrative residences built.
Inaugurated by the provincial governor, Nuno Mahapi, the infrastructures were built under the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) and the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty.
The hospital will now include, among other services, pediatrics and maternity, with a hospitalization capacity of one hundred beds, against the previous 40, in a budget of one billion, 353 million and 662 thousand kwanzas, the work and another 593 million 750 thousand , of equipping the unit.
The reference unit whose works lasted 15 months was built in an area of one hectare and also includes surgery, stomatology, ultrasound, radiology, hemotherapy, biochemistry, mortuary services, among others, many of which the municipality has for the first time.
With the hospital, two ambulances equipped for medical emergencies and a Hilux van were delivered, intended for administrative work.
The school, called Colégio, opened at the municipal headquarters, estimated at 264 million, 825 thousand and 620 kwanzas, will accommodate 864 students in two shifts, who studied in precarious conditions.
The new municipal market, with capacity for 100 stalls, is budgeted at 134 million and 600 kwanzas. In addition to the benches, it has several services for the conservation of fresh products, built under the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PDLCP).
The function houses, one for the administrator and two for receiving guests and cost, in general, 65 million kwanzas, also included in the PDLCP.
Speaking after the inauguration of the respective equipment, the provincial governor of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi, said that the infrastructures will contribute to improving the quality of life of the population residing in the municipality.
He reiterated the need for citizens to collaborate scrupulously in the maintenance of equipment so that it can last longer and serve future generations.
In all, the PIIM in Jamba includes 21 projects, 18 of which have already been implemented and inaugurated, corresponding to three billion, 722 million 716 thousand 596 kwanzas.
In the final stages of execution, three of which are under construction, namely, a seven-room school in the locality of Cacungo, a medical post and a health post in the commune of Tchamutete.
With a land area of 12,700 square kilometres, the municipality of Jamba is 315 kilometers from the city of Lubango and has an estimated population of 134,035 inhabitants.
