Africa-Press – Angola. The Japanese ambassador to Angola, Hiroaki Sano, praised on Wednesday in Luanda, the progress registered by the Southern African country in recent years in the economic and social sectors, resulting from the government’s policies for the well-being of the population.
Speaking at the celebration of the Japan’s National Day marked on February 23 and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Japanese diplomat said that Angola has registered significant development in recent years.
“Angola has improved a lot. Dreams are becoming reality, congratulations. Japan feels honored to contribute to the country’s development, therefore we intend an increasingly close relationship,” the diplomat said.
The diplomat added that the Asian giant also intends to strengthen cooperation in the cultural and sports sectors, among other areas.
Domingos Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, on his turn, stressed that Angola and Japan maintain privileged relations within the framework of multifaceted cooperation.
“Almost 50 years later, Angola and Japan maintain privileged relations and are part of the context of national reconstruction, economic diversification, infrastructure, know-how and training of personnel, also being multilateral through TICAD,” the official said.
Domingos Lopes added that, despite maintaining an already consolidated cooperation, the two countries agree to elevate it to new levels, with the implementation of the transmission line projects in the southern region of Angola, to improve the electrification of the Namibe province and digital terrestrial television which will facilitate the transition from the analog to the digital television and radio transmission system.
The Angolan official praised the way in which the Emperor and his family have kept Japan increasingly close to its people and within the parameters of the Constitution of the Asian giant, “in a beautiful harmony as a symbol of peace”.
He congratulated Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her re-election, emphasizing that Angola intends to further strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation.
In his congratulatory message, Angolan president João Lourenço, praised the victory achieved at the polls, as it reflects the renewed confidence of the Japanese people in the Prime Minister’s leadership, to continue implementing policies that impact the process of consolidating Japan as a global industrial, technological and economic power.
Members of the National Assembly, government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and other guests attended the event.
Relations between Angola and Japan date back to September 1976.
Since then, the two countries have worked diligently to strengthen these relations, cooperating in various sectors.
