Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of National Defence, Veterans and Soldiers of the Homeland, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”, has been participating since Wednesday (4) in the 26th Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), in preparation for the 26th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the organisation, which is taking place in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

According to a note, the Council of Ministers of ECCAS, among other matters, is analysing the political situation in the Central African region, the process of renewal of members and the adoption of the recommendations of the Specialised Technical Committee on Finance and Budget.During the session, the proactive role of the Republic of Angola in building peace and security in the Central African region and on the continent in general was highlighted. In this context, Angola hosted the Second Central African Maritime Conference (COMAR 2) in April 2025.

The 26th Summit of Heads of State and Government of ECCAS will take place on Saturday (7), in a historic moment for the community, which will celebrate 42 years since its creation in October of this year, with the theme of institutional reform underway since 2020 as one of the most anticipated approaches.

The Republic of Angola is participating in the aforementioned session with an inter-ministerial delegation, comprising officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland, and Fisheries, as well as ambassadors to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea and diplomats from both missions.
