Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, met this Monday with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, with whom he analyzed the political-military situation in the east of this country.
The meeting between the two Statesmen also served to exchange views on strengthening bilateral cooperation and address current regional and international issues.
Félix Tshisekedi made a technical stopover of a few hours in the Angolan capital, before heading to South Africa.
Angola and the DRC, both members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICRGL), have maintained high-level contacts on issues related to peace, stability and security in the region.
The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço assumes the rotating presidency of CIRGL, an organization created with the aim of resolving issues of peace and security in the region.
João Lourenço has been the mediator in charge of the DRC – Rwanda conflict dossier, mandated by the African Union.
