Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan President João Lourenço congratulated his counterpart, Denis Sassou Nguesso, on Thursday in Brazzaville, after the latter’s inauguration for another term as head of the Republic of Congo.
The solemn ceremony took place at the Concordia Stadium in Kintélé and brought together several Heads of State and representatives of foreign governments.
President João Lourenço, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, was among the high-ranking officials invited to the event, witnessing the main moments of the ceremony, notably the oath of the Congolese Head of State and the formalization of the beginning of a new government cycle.
The presence of the Angolan statesman in Brazzaville is seen by diplomatic sources as a reflection of the level of bilateral relations between Angola and Congo, marked by cooperation in the fields of politics, diplomacy and economics, as well as coordination on matters of security and stability in the Central African region.
After the ceremony, the two leaders participated in the official lunch offered to the invited delegations.
According to the same sources, João Lourenço’s participation in the inauguration of Denis Sassou Nguesso also confirms Angola’s commitment to regional stability and the strengthening of relations between neighboring countries.
