Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the MPLA, João Lourenço, urged Tuesday, the promotion of the spirit of sincere and genuine reconciliation, in the behavior and attitudes of each citizen and each political force.

João Lourenço was speaking at the opening of the IV Ordinary Session of the MPLA Central Committee, at the Belas Conference Centre, in Luanda.

On the occasion, he reaffirmed the MPLA’s commitment to the continuous struggle for the consolidation of the achievements achieved, based on independence, peace and national reconciliation.

João Lourenço, who is also the President of the Republic, said that today’s great challenge is to implement public policies, based on the MPLA program approved at the ballot box, which guarantee sustainable economic development and the well-being of the Angolan people.

He regretted the fact that some opposition parties had never voted in favor of the OGE, an instrument without which it is not possible to implement development programs, such as the national network of roads, ports, airports, railways, schools, universities, hospitals , water and energy production and distribution centers and social housing.

Likewise, he added, (the OGE) allows the admission of new staff and the payment of wages and subsidies and other workers’ rights.

He also accused some parties that try to pass themselves off as great defenders of public interests, when, in practice, they do the opposite and do not vote for the OGE for 31 years, nor accept election results.

“However, it is fair to recognize that in Parliament there are political parties that have taken a serious, responsible and patriotic stance over the years”, he said.

The Executive has been increasing the offer of jobs, housing, educational establishments of all levels, hospital units, sports infrastructure, professional training for young people, encouraging them to also embark on entrepreneurship.

“The public tenders, which have been held since 2019, for the admission of professionals for public health and education are aimed at Angolans in general, but end up mainly benefiting our young people”, underlined João Lourenço.
