Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, visited the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in New Delhi this Saturday to pay tribute to the former Indian spiritual leader. The Angolan statesman was accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço.
João Lourenço was presented with a bust of Mahatma Gandhi and two books on the history of one of the greatest political leaders of the 20th century.
Honoured in India as the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi was a pioneer and practiced the principle of Satyagraha, the well-known resistance to tyranny through non-violent mass civil disobedience.
