Africa-Press – Angola. Brazilian coach José Neto, who coaches Petro de Luanda’s senior men’s basketball team, terminates his contractual relationship this Friday with the “road axis” club.

Friday’s 6:00 pm match with Mali’s Stade Malien, for third place in the African Basketball League, which takes place in Kigali, Rwanda, could be the last for the coach.

On Wednesday, during the press conference, after defeating As Douanes from Senegal, by 86-92, at the Arena pavilion in Kigali, for the semi-finals of the African competition, José Neto confirmed that.

“About the future, it really is the last year of my contract. I wanted this title so much. It’s the only race we didn’t win”, he lamented.

Visibly moved and without dwelling on the subject, the training professional ended up being welcomed by his athlete Jone Pedro, also present at the press conference.

Arriving in the country in 2021, the coach won three consecutive national championships, which allowed him to represent Angola in the biggest club competition on the continent, with a third and second place, respectively in 2021 and 2022.

Jose Neto, 52 years old, won two Angola Cups, as well as the same number of Vladmiro Romero Super Cups.

He had a short stint in the senior men’s National Team, in the qualifying rounds for “Afrobasket 2021”.
