Africa-Press – Angola. Thirty-five judo professionals, including coaches, monitors and referees from the South region, participated, Saturday and Sunday, in Lubango, Huíla province, in training to update the new international rules, in a promotion by the Angolan Federation of the sport (FAJ) .

These are coaches and monitors with degrees above the 5th kyu, from the provinces of Huíla, Namibe, Cunene and Cuando Cubango, who for two days improved their knowledge on various technical issues of the sport.

The objective is to train new national referees to better respond to judo development policies in southern Angola, in accordance with those of the FAJ.

The classes had theoretical and practical components, with the aid of an audiovisual system. The activity was coordinated by Josemar Ringote Frederico, with José Mallory and Joaquim Rivera Santana as trainers.

The training session dealt with matters in the areas of competition, technical scoring, colden score, IPPON, WAZAARI, immobilization, counterattack, valid actions, UDE-GAESH, negative judo and Kumikata establishment.

On the sidelines of the opening of the event, the international referee and president of the FAJ’s National Arbitration Council, José Mallory, highlighted that it is the first formation in the South region, of a group that the federation has been carrying out since 2021. .

According to the official, the focus is to train more and more national referees of category C, to serve the sport in the country.

“As the FAJ approved the new judo rules, which are in effect in the 2020/24 quadrennium until the Olympic Games, we are now passing this content on to our referees. Fortunately, the South region has this privilege”, he emphasized.

The country has six continental referees, one international and 20 active nationals.
