Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary general of JURA, Manuel Armando da Costa Ekuikui, Thursday in Mbanza Kongo, appealed to the local population to continue to be inspired by the strong traditional power inherited from the ancestors of the Kingdom of Kongo.

Speaking to the press, as part of his three-day working visit to Zaire, the leader of UNITA’s youth branch recognized historical figures such as the prophetess Kimpa Vita, who, in his view, was a woman who guaranteed the unity of the kingdom.

“We came in search of knowledge of ancestry. We came to live with our essence, as Africans, (…) because we need our own path, an open nationalism that aims, fundamentally, at rescuing our values as Africans”, she emphasized.

He explained that his visit to Zaire, his first trip since he was elected at the last JURA congress, is part of his organization’s patriotic days.

According to the leader, this journey includes dialogue with civil society, to address the challenges of Angolan youth in the current context of the country, as well as JURA, in the coming years.

He assured that the restructuring of JURA, at the level of the province of Zaire, is also part of the agenda of his visit, with the appointment of a new person responsible for this youth organization in the region.
