Africa-Press – Angola. The Provincial Secretary of the Revolutionary United Youth of Angola (JURA) in Malanje, Manuel Samuhongo Luciano, suggested Thursday, the reinforcement of the Executive’s commitment to boosting agricultural production, to face the slowdown in the world economy.

The youth leader defended this position at the opening of the 1st Provincial Conference on the journey of Jonas Savimbi, part of the conferences celebrating Patriot’s Day, marked on the 22nd of this month and which aims to praise the figure of the founder of UNITA.

The politician pointed to agriculture, especially in the family segment, as the main “driver” for economic diversification and promotion of the country’s development, in addition to being a sector that generates several jobs.

Manuel Samuhongo Luciano stressed that the current global economic and geopolitical reality requires a redefinition of the agrarian sector, with a view to increasing food availability in the country.

However, during his address, the secretary said that JURA remains firm in preserving the legacy of the party’s founder, through the transmission of his teachings to younger generations.

Running until the end of this month, the days celebrating February 22nd also include lectures on the life and work of Jonas Savimbi, marches and solidarity activities.
