Africa-Press – Angola. Politician and businessman Bento Kangamba believes it is time to end hostilities between brothers and fight for the development of the country, regardless of the party one is a member of.
In statements to the press, in Benguela, the general also repudiated the statements of a citizen who holds the same rank as him, in the circumstances of Kamalata Numa, who recently accused General Fernando Miala of being «the greatest evil in Angola and one of those responsible for the degradation of the country», for reversing the «Democratic and Lawful State».
Kangamba comes to the defense of the Head of the State Intelligence and Security Services, Fernando Garcia Mila, who is accused of “degrading the country” with certain practices that, according to Numa, have also resulted in the partisanship of State institutions.
The accusations made by Abílio Kamalata Numa, an influential UNITA leader, were, moreover, repudiated in Benguela by General Bento Kangamba, member of the MPLA Central Committee.
He took advantage of the press microphones to advise his colleague on the need for everyone to work (MPLA and UNITA) to promote the well-being and social harmony of all Angolans.
The MPLA politician said the time had come for Angolans to
From here, on the other side (MPLA), we are honest, we are patriots”, he stresses, considering that situations of this nature “undermine” some efforts towards national reconciliation.
Kangamba puts forward, in theory, a type of motivation on Numa’s part: “Tomorrow he will replace General Miala. He is (Numa) a general and he did his part. Each of us did our part”, he said, adding that “I think they all continue to be afraid of General Miala. He is a citizen, he is a colleague of ours. Of course, General Miala sometimes does not talk, but General Numa must not have that idea”.
According to the leader of the ruling party, we are all families and with practices similar to those of General Kamalata Numa the country will not develop. “Today you are a general. Back then, you came from UNITA. Do your business,” he advised.
Combating juvenile manipulation
Kangamba joins forces with Rui Falcão. The latter recently considered, in Benguela, that young people have been victims of manipulation by politicians. Bento Kangamba disapproves of situations of this nature and believes that it is imperative that young people worry more about training and education. “We need to ignore these politicians who encourage young people. We need to stop accepting this type of talk”, he advises, having defended the investment in entrepreneurship to overcome, for example, the much-publicized lack of employment among young people.
The MPLA leader sees training, education and entrepreneurship as the way to combat riots, as he understands that there is a certain tendency among political groups to encourage young people to embrace such practices.
General says MINTTICS bill will go in order
Bento Kangamba does not agree with the statements made, especially on social media, that the Bill on Dissemination of False Information, presented by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, aims to combat freedom in Angola and, consequently, install a dictatorial State in the country.
The politician recalls that, anywhere in the world, freedom has limits and it is unacceptable to insult high-ranking State figures, especially the President of the Republic.
According to the retired general, there are those who use social media as a platform to insult, including the families of leaders, which is unacceptable in a state that claims to be organized. In general, he said, disrespect should not be tolerated, suggesting that social media should be used with strict respect for the rights of others. “The number one democracy, America, there is no law that you can go there and insult your aunt, right? Well, go to France, it’s not like that. How can you come here, in Angola, and invent scenarios? I can’t pay a journalist. How can you encourage insults? We need to bring order,” he emphasizes.
