Africa-Press – Angola. The king of Ombala Ya Nalueque, Mário Shatipamba, appealed to the political parties and the coalition of political parties competing in the General Elections of 24 August to accept the results expressed in the polls by the voters.

According to the ruler of Ombala Ya Nalueque, in the municipality of Ombadja, Cunene province, the acceptance of the results is a sign of respect for the will of the people and allows for the normal functioning of state bodies.

King Mário Shatipamba, quoted on Tuesday by Angop, considered it essential that the feeling of Angolanness prevails over party interests, appealing to the serenity of competing forces, in order to avoid acts that threaten the spirit of peace and tranquility.

Last Monday, the Constitutional Court dismissed an injunction brought by UNITA. This is a precautionary measure against alleged irregularities that occurred during the national tabulation of the results of the General Elections of 24 August.

According to data announced by the CNE, the MPLA won the General Elections with 51.17 percent of the votes, resulting from 3,209,429 votes, followed by UNITA with 43.95%, resulting from 2,756,786 votes.

With these results, the MPLA won 124 deputies in the National Assembly and UNITA 90, while the FNLA, PRS and PHA each elected two deputies.
