Africa-Press – Angola. The preparatory meeting for the 1st Maritime Conference of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC) began this Monday in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. sent.
According to the press release, the preparatory meeting was opened by the Minister of Regional Integration and Francophonie of the DRC, Didier Mazenga, and included interventions by the president of the ECCAS Commission, Gilberto da Piedade Veríssimo, and the head of the European Union Delegation in Democratic Republic of Congo.
The preparatory meeting takes place under the motto “Governance and Security of ECCAS Maritime Space for the Development of a Blue Economy in Central Africa” and ends on December 2, with a ministerial meeting.
In five days, says the note, ECCAS technicians will analyze topics on the “ECCAS Maritime Policy and Governance Strategy”, “CEEAC Maritime Safety” and “Development of the Sustainable Blue Economy”.
The Angolan delegation is headed by the director for Africa, the Middle East and Regional Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miguel César Domingos Bembe, who will present the essential lines of the “National Strategy for the Sea of Angola” and the “Law on Maritime Spaces” which sets the basic limits for delimitation and maritime demarcation under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the country.
Also included in the agenda is the topic on “Policy and Strategy of the Republic of Angola in terms of Maritime Security and Development in the long term, with interspersed and added revisions”.
The Angolan multisectoral technical team is made up of the ministries of Foreign Affairs, National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland, Interior, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Transport and Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas.
Also part of the Angolan delegation are the ambassadors of Angola to the DRC, Miguel Costa, in Gabon, Lizete Pena, the permanent representative at ECCAS, Gilberto da Piedade Veríssimo, as well as the commander of the Fiscal and Customs Police, commissioner Manuel Chima.
