Africa-Press – Angola. A billion 373 million, 149 thousand and 500 kwanzas is the amount already disbursed by the Executive, from March 2020 to May this year, to support disadvantaged families in the province of Zaire, within the scope of the “Kwenda ”.

In all, 22,546 households in the municipalities of Nzeto, Tomboco, Cuimba and Nóqui already benefit from this programme, which aims to combat poverty within rural communities.

The data were revealed, Saturday, in the commune of Mpala (Nóqui), by the provincial director of the Institute of Local Development, João Maurício, in the act of handing over monetary values ​​to needy families in this border municipality.

He informed that 6,322 Nóqui households began to receive their first installment, valued at 51,000 kwanzas, corresponding to six months.

According to the official, 37,698 households are registered throughout the entire province of Zaire, by the Social Support Fund (FAS).

The governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, who attended the event, said that Kwenda constitutes one of the most effective programs designed by the Executive, with a view to combating poverty in the communities.

He reassured the families residing in the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo and Soyo that have not yet been covered, stating that, in the next few moments, the process of registering the eligible population will begin.

Kwenda is an Angolan Executive program that aims to create policies to support the poorest and most vulnerable families in the country.

Operationalized by FAS, the program is valued at USD 420 million and is funded with USD 320 million by the World Bank (WB), with another 100 million by the Angolan Government.

In addition to monetary transfers, Kwenda also has the components of Productive Inclusion, Municipalization of Social Action and the Strengthening of the Single Registry.
