Africa-Press – Angola. Ninety-nine thousand 613 million 999 thousand and 626 Kwanzas have been delivered so far this month, to families across the country, within the scope of the Social Protection Strengthening Program (Kwenda).
The data was presented Thursday, in Caxito, Bengo province, during a meeting to review the operationalization of Kwenda, part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Social Support Fund (FAS), which operates the aforementioned program.
To date, Kwenda has registered one million and 600 thousand households in 94 municipalities and has already reached 328 communes and 15,375 neighborhoods and villages in the country.To operationalize the program, FAS has three thousand 585 community development agents (Adeco).
Within the scope of the productive inclusion component, the strengthening program aims to insert and encourage people and households in situations of poverty and economic and social vulnerability, who are of working age and with productive capacity, into income-generating activities.
The director of FAS in Bengo, Alexandre Domingos, explained that in the province Kwenda has 26 thousand 915 registered households (AF), of which 13 thousand 660 consumed a Kwenda value of around one billion 468 thousand 606 million and 500 thousand Kwanzas.
The deputy governor of Bengo for the political, social and economic sector, José Bartolomeu Pedro, said that taking into account the results of Kwenda, the government is committed to continuing to work so that more families benefit from the program.
He asked beneficiaries to be proactive with the amounts they receive.
He said he hopes that procedures will be accelerated so that urban Kwenda will soon be a reality in the municipality of Dande, the only municipality that was not included in rural Kwenda.
Financed by the World Bank with around USD 320 million and USD 100 million from the National Treasury, Kwenda is a program of the Angolan Executive that aims to create policies to support the poorest and most vulnerable families in the country.
The value of the program is paid quarterly, in four installments, over a period of one year, and each household receives 33 thousand Kwanzas (installments of 11 thousand Kz per month).
In addition to monetary social transfers, Kwenda also has the components of Productive Inclusion, Municipalization of Social Action, through the creation of Integrated Social Action Centers (CASI) and the Strengthening of the Single Social Registry.
