Africa-Press – Angola. A lead mining plant with the capacity to produce 500 tons of lead per day has been operating on an experimental basis since the second half of this year in the municipality of Serra da Kanda in Zaire province.
Ana Matondo, the communal administrator of this new mountainous municipality, announced that the plant is a Chinese private investment that began installation in 2021 in the village of Mbemba in the Kimpangu regency.
The manager said that the company Golden Fortuner Miner Service has a seven-year renewable exploration license and that prospecting work for this mineral began in 2019.
Matondo said the factory will contribute to the socioeconomic development of the area, formerly part of the Cuimba municipality, and generate more than 200 jobs for local youth.
Matondo said the licensing process for commercializing and exporting the mineral produced and stored by the company is underway.
She revealed that the project also plans to explore iron and zinc in the near future. These minerals are abundant in this border region with the province of Uíge and appealed to national and foreign entrepreneurs to invest in Serra da Kanda, taking advantage of the region’s potential in various fields.
Serra da Kanda is located more than 45 km south of Cuimba.
