Africa-Press – Angola. Four cruise ships will dock this year in the city of Lobito, Province of Benguela, as part of the promotion of tourism.

In the scope of the mentioned promotion of tourism, the cruise ship named “Europa” docked in Port of Lobito in the early hours of Sunday, with some 300 tourists on board from Cape Town, South Africa.

According to the director of the travel agency Kitanda, Rebeca Barreiros, tourists are mostly from England, Sweden and Germany.

“The ship will remain until the early afternoon hours in the Lobito and then will be headed to the city of Luanda, capital of the country”, she informed.

Asked whether tourists came within the ambit of Carnival, the manager said it was only coincidence, but that in her script there is a show starring the cultural group Bismas das Acácias, to take place in the National Museum of Archaeology, in city of Benguela.

Meanwhile, tourists are fulfilling a usual roadmap, including a visit to the Lobito Ethnography Museum, the St. Peter’s Fort in the Catumbela municipality, the National Museum of Archaeology and the Catholic Pópulo Church in Benguela.

Angolan policy is focused on diversifying the economy, placing the tourism sector as a strategic pillar through the brand named “Visit Angola”.

Cruise ships are tourist boats focused on entertainment, offering accommodations, restaurants, swimming pools and shows, operating in both short and transatlantic routes.

These types of ships, such as the Royal Caribbean and Swiss-Italian global cruise line (MSC Cruises S.A), have the capacity to accommodate more than hundreds of passengers, thus moving the tourist activity to different destinations.
