Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan government is creating conditions for the implementation of a logistics platform in the municipality of Luau (Moxico), to boost trade in that region.

According to the municipal administrator of Luau, Filomena Aires, the construction of convenience spaces, parking lots and other services is also planned.

“The President of the Republic issued an order authorizing the construction of the road that connects Luau-Lumeje Kameia, and Luau-Alto Zambeze”, he explained.

PLANAGRÃO is another project included in the Executive’s actions, so he invited businessmen to invest in the municipality”, he appealed.

Filomena Aires made it known that Luau International Airport is available, as well as road 180 that connects Moxico to Lunda Sul already paved and in good condition.

As for tourism, he said that the municipality has many areas to explore, giving the example of the old village of Luau and the falls of Saipaco.

Regarding the bridge over the Luau river, which separates Angola from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), visited yesterday by the excursionists, he said that it could be replaced, as it is already old.

It is estimated that more than 500 people cross it daily, on both sides.

On the other hand, Inspector Jorge Joseph, Commander of the Border Guard Police, ensured security for the crossing of populations, from 8 am to 5.30 pm.

Asked about the origin of illegal citizens, he revealed that there are always attempts but that they are promptly controlled by the security forces, through a crossing pass.

“While the Angolans move to the other side of the border in search of health services, the Congolese seek products from the basic food basket, as they are easy to buy in the country, and they bring tubers such as cassava and some products consumed on this side”, added.

On her turn, the director of the Municipal Office for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Mani Paulo, defended the creation of infrastructures such as bars, restaurants and resorts, so that tourists have somewhere to relax, regardless of whether they appreciate the “beautiful landscapes nature and make photographs for remembrance”.

“This is the second visit of excursionists to the region. Foreign tourists have already been here, coming from Dar-es-Salam (Tanzania), on the South African luxury train, from Rovos Rail”, he stated.

The border bridge is located about ten kilometers from the city of Luau. The area is still unknown to many Angolans, according to Mani Paulo.
