Africa-Press – Angola. The Bita Tanque area, in Barra do Cuanza commune, Belas municipality, Luanda province, has, since Tuesday (25), had a school with the capacity to accommodate 2,035 students, after being rehabilitated, expanded and equipped.

The school, called António Agostinho Neto School Complex, whose works were valued at more than 179 million kwanzas, was inaugurated yesterday by the governor of Luanda, Ana Paula de Carvalho.

According to the official, the school, with 21 classrooms, was expanded and equipped under the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
Classes will be taught from 1st grade to high school (Economic, Physical and Human Sciences courses).

“The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in his speech on the State of the Nation, said that the Executive is developing structuring actions in the Education sector that aim to promote the improvement of the quality of education throughout the country”, underlined the governor. Luanda, adding that the school now guarantees better conditions for students to study and for teachers to work.

The governor advised teachers and students to, in addition to the teaching and learning process, give priority to civic and moral values. From parents and guardians, Ana Paula de Carvalho asked for more interaction with the school and students’ awareness of their conservation.

He also said he hopes that the local administration does not run out of creativity and agility to guarantee the maintenance of the infrastructure and, whenever necessary, resort to the corresponding provincial departments.

The governor of Luanda, talking about the epidemiological situation that we are currently experiencing, took the opportunity

to advise the use of the mask and compliance with biosecurity measures, so that, together, we can fight Covid-19 and return to normality.

“We will always wash our hands and maintain physical distance. I hope that all the boys study to have good grades and complete their training. Also maintain the conservation of the sports fields, so that the school is always beautiful”, she recommended.

On the occasion, the director general of the António Agostinho Neto School Complex, Pedro Mungo, said that there are children who leave Zango III to study at Bita Tanque, facing many difficulties to get to school, especially when it rains, defending, therefore, the rehabilitation of access roads, so that means of transport can circulate smoothly.

“Children are forced to walk long distances in order to study. From the KK 5000 to school it is more than six kilometers”, explained Pedro Mungo.

For her part, Celmira Cadete, 14, a student in the seventh grade, said that during the three years she attended school she had never seen her look so beautiful and in good condition.

Domingos Neto, 14, says his main concern is living far from school. “Every day I have to walk for an hour to get to school and I do the same time and walk on the way back”, he lamented.

The young man promised that he will not give up on his dreams, despite the difficulties he is going through. to get good grades and achieve your goals.
