Africa-Press – Angola. The next meeting of the Angola-Cape Verde Joint Commission, in this case the IX, will be held in 2024, in Luanda, on a date to be agreed by the diplomats of the two countries. The organization, which had not met for 14 years, has now been activated again in Praia, Cape Verde, with the holding of the VIII edition which was chaired by the heads of diplomacy from both countries, namely Téte António and Rui Alberto de Figueiredo Soares, respectively. .
From the conclusions drawn from this meeting, the parties agreed to develop efforts to boost the Joint Commission, with a view to its continuity and biennial regularity, thus reiterating what was established in the General Cooperation Agreement signed in the city of Praia, in August 1997. .
The parties also considered the importance of drawing up and implementing a timetable for future cooperation actions, for the promotion of a strategic partnership resulting from a permanent dialogue that contemplates the different areas of common interest, namely political-diplomatic, agriculture, culture, hotels and tourism, transport, economy, finance, banking, business, education and technical-professional training, health and public-administrative organization, among others.
They agreed to form teams of experts with the aim of reviewing the diverse complex prevailing bilateral institutional legal system, in order to adapt it to current priorities and opportunities. They welcomed the signing of the four legal instruments of cooperation between the two countries, especially the Air Transport sector, which, as they said, will establish service relations between and beyond their respective territories. However, in terms of business economics, the parties recognized the paucity of trade, due to the absence of direct and regular lines, both air and sea.
