Africa-Press – Angola. A 131-carat diamond was discovered at the Lulo mine, in Lunda-Norte province, considered the fourth of more than 100 carats recovered in 2022, the National Diamond Company (ENDIAMA) announced this Wednesday.
The Lulo alluvial mine is operated by Sociedade Mineira do Lulo, made up of the Angolan companies ENDIAMA EP (32%) and Rosas & Pétalas (28%), as well as the Australian company Lucapa Diamond (40%).
According to the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, quoted in the note, “Angola has once again proved its enormous diamond potential”.
“I am absolutely convinced that with discoveries of this nature we will, in the near future, be among the largest diamond producers in the world”, said Diamantino Azevedo.
