The interrogation session for the production of evidence against the defendant Pedro Lussati, accused of crimes of embezzlement, abuse of power, influence peddling and money laundering by the Luanda District Court, ended, Friday, after more than five hours of discussions between the judge of the case, the Public Ministry and defense lawyers.
In yesterday’s session, the co-defendants Idelfonso Armando Feraz Gama, who was a finance officer at the UGP, and José Chiuale, who until the date of the facts held the function of manager of the Military Guard.
Pedro Lussati, a member of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), who is part of the Presidential Guard Unit (UGP), said, in his defense, he did not understand the reason for the detention, considering it an act of conspiracy, treason and a “true fabrication of crime” , before the judge of the case who was appreciating him, letting out a look of curiosity. Asked by judge Andrade da Silva about the origin of the assets in possession of the Luanda District Court, Major Lussati explained that the real estate, furniture, jewelry and large sums of money seized were the result of various investments.
Before the judge of the case, the worthy representatives of the Public Ministry and defense lawyers explained that he has enough money and material goods.
In relation to co-defendant José Chiuale, the judge in the case questioned the possession of numerous movable and immovable assets in the defendant’s name, namely machines, trucks, vans, farms, as well as the registration of various monetary transfers in personal and company accounts. .
Quietly, José Chiuale said he was the owner of the goods presented and claimed to have obtained it from the company called Horizonte, which, by the way, until the date of the facts, provided service to the Presidential Guard Unit (UGP).
