Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, announced yesterday the requalification of the city’s peripheral neighborhoods, especially Cananéia and Catepa, with a view to conferring greater dignity on residents and improving the image of the urban center.
Without going into details, the director explained that the execution of this undertaking initially involves the preparation of related studies.
Marcos Nhunga made this statement at the end of his visits to the works to dredge the Malanje River, which had been paralyzed for some time, and the ongoing rehabilitation of the access road to Canâmbua and the youth house in Catepa, in the latter where he also considered it imperative to improve the distribution of energy and water.
“The problem that we have to find a solution is the requalification of the neighbourhoods”, he stressed, adding that these and other actions will be included in the mandate program of the new government, which will cover the 14 municipalities in the province.
He pointed out basic sanitation, the fight against garbage and public lighting in the neighborhoods, as aspects to be taken into account, initially in the city of Malanje and gradually in the other municipalities in the province.
On the other hand, the governor reiterated the resumption within days of the works to dredge the Malanje River and the centrality of Malanje, where 200 residences will initially be distributed, in compensation for the youth houses ceded to the residents of the old green building, demolished due to signs of collapse.
Alongside these, the governor also visited the works of the special education school and the residences of the vice provincial governors, in the Catepa district, which had been paralyzed and vandalized for some time, in order to find mechanisms for their recovery.
The school with 8 classrooms, whose works began in 2020, is budgeted at 246 million kwanzas and will be transformed into an integrated education establishment for students in normal education and with special educational needs.
The youth house began to be built in 2019, having registered successive intervals and is valued at 44 million, 573 thousand US dollars.
