Africa-Press – Angola. Without Gogoró, Nandinho, Igor, Nataniel and striker Ivandro, influential players, FC Bravos do Maquis will face, this Friday, at the Mundunduleno stadium, the 1o de Agosto, a challenge for the 10th round of Girabola 2023/24.
At the launch of the match, the maquisardes coach, Mário Soares, told the press that the absences were due to injuries, however he promised to “remedy” with the available players, with a view to counteracting the military’s favoritism.
“1o de Agosto is a chronic candidate for the title, with an obligation to win in any field, but we will work to counter this opponent’s grandeur”, he said.
There are four consecutive games without a win, resulting from three defeats against Kabuscorp do Palanca (0-1), Wiliete de Benguela and Académica do Lobito (1-0), respectively, and a home draw (0-0) against Desportivo da Huíla.
Regarding these numbers, ário Soares explained that “luck does not accompany the club when it comes to finishing” and promised more work to improve the attack.
In the current championship, in eight games they have recorded four defeats, two wins, the same number of draws, conceding six goals against four scored.
The “Agostinos” achieved two wins and an equal number of defeats and four draws, scoring nine goals and conceding eight.
In history, the military has the advantage, registering 24 victories against five for the Moxico team, in a universe of 42 games played since 1999, the year in which Maquis debuted in the National Championship, and, in between, 13 draws. In the clashes, 1o de Agosto scored 63 goals and conceded 31.
In the preliminary games of the 10th round, Interclube lost to Desportivo da Lunda Sul, by 0-2, while Kabuscorp and União de Malange played out a goalless draw in Luanda.
The Moxico team is 11th in the league table with eight points, while 1o de Agosto is in seventh place, with 10.
Kabuscorp do Palanca with 20 points, is the leader of Girabola.
