MASFAMU releases report on domestic violence

Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Social Action, Family and Women’s Promotion (MASFAMU) will start publishing a daily report on cases of domestic violence in the country, in order to contribute to the prevention and combat of this evil, announced Monday, in Luanda, Minister Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto.

The official spoke to the press at the end of an audience with the secretary general of the Organization of Angolan Women (OMA), Joana Tomás, having suggested that the number of cases is high and worrying.

He stressed that the intention is for citizens to have this information directly and daily, as a way to reduce cases.

Regarding the audience, he referred that it was of great importance, as it allowed, with OMA, an approach to the ministry’s actions in favor of families.

He clarified that they do not have enough “staff” to carry out all the work they intend to do and, for this reason, they act with everyone interested in the development of children, women and elderly people for the well-being of families.

He considered OMA a great partner of the ministry, so they will take good advantage of the relationship.

For her part, the OMA secretary, Joana Tomás, said that her institution develops a vast amount of social work in the communities.

He expressed the organization’s interest in accompanying and supporting the development of actions programmed by the ministry, in every sense.

In another audience, minister Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto received the president of the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA), Florbela Malaquias, who expressed concern about the proliferation of churches and the young woman.

Florbela Malaquias clarified having raised general concerns that directly impact the lives of families, such as poverty, intra-family violence, sexual exploitation, among others.
