Matala children march against violence

Africa-Press – Angola. Four hundred children and teenagers from Matala, in Huíla, repudiated, during a march, at the weekend, the acts of violence of which many of them are victims, an event that was joined by the municipal administrator, Miguel Vicente.

The protest march against all forms of child violence traveled through some arteries of the city of Matala and the children displayed posters demonstrating their support for the victims and demanding the competent authorities to punish the perpetrators.

Sérgio Cambala, assigned to the Angolan Pioneer Organization (OPA), on behalf of the participants, said that the march was created to protest the successive cases of violence against children, associated with their use in street work, sexual abuse, bodily harm and kidnappings.

It was highlighted as an event that expresses support for all children who suffer from the consequences of the violation of their rights, which is why they chose the motto “The marks left in childhood must be happy and colorful”.

The event, part of Children’s Month, was promoted by the directorate of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality and OPA, and also brought together parents and guardians, members of civil society, religious associations and students.
