Africa-Press – Angola. The municipal administration of Matala, in Huíla, announced increased investment in health services, energy, water, basic sanitation and support for livestock production, with resources from the Poverty Combat Program.
Currently drinking water reaches more than 55 thousand people, while energy reaches at least 125 thousand, but the goal is for these figures to double by the end of the year. In health and education, projections point to the placement of another health unit and a school in each commune.
Within the scope of the Program to Combat Poverty, which is under municipal subordination, with a budget provided directly by the Ministry of Finance, the Administration receives 25 million kwanzas every month, which are invested in sustainable actions in the mentioned areas.
According to the local administrator, Migue de Paiva Vicente, without detailing the amount to be invested in each area, the reinforcement of the agricultural and livestock sector will provide sustainable development for the municipality, as in addition to seed support for families, the acquisition of improved cattle for breeding.
Another bet, according to the administrator, is to create conditions that attract new investors to the municipality in the tourism sector, which is still almost intact.
However, he warned, the maximum commitment of all the municipality’s staff and within the limits is necessary, to better respond to the call of the more than 350 thousand inhabitants of its territory.
The municipality of Matala is 180 kilometers east of Lubango, being the second most populous in the province of Huíla, after the capital (Lubango).
