Africa-Press – Angola. The District Court of Mbanza Kongo in the Zaire province sentenced on Thursday Catarina Daniel Antonio to eight years in prison for aggravated homicide.
According to Judge Daniel Bunga, who read the sentence, it was proven that on July 10, 2023, in the Sagrada Esperança neighborhood on the outskirts of Mbanza Kongo, the defendant stabbed her sister, Charlene Antonio Luvumbu, who was eight months pregnant, to death for material reasons.
The judge said that the convicted woman, who was 17 years old at the time of the crime, benefited from special mitigation, which determined that a sentence of no more than eight years in prison would be applied to minors under 18. The defendant was also ordered to pay two million kwanzas in compensation to the victim’s family and 100,000 kwanzas in court fees.
Charlene Luvumbo was brutally murdered inside her home, suffering stab wounds to the neck and chest.
