Africa-Press – Angola. The International Master (MI) David Silva defeated (Monday), in Luanda, the FIDE Master (MF) Manuel Alberto, in the game of the second round of the Mineiro Cup of unified chess, which will be played in the Decompression Room of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas.

Also a three-time African junior champion (Angola 2024, Seychelles Islands 2016 and Togo 2017), with his triumph, David takes the lead in the competition, with two points, while his opposite, also a professor at Escola João Júlio, is in ninth place, with one.

Still in the same round, Alexandre Prospero lost to Jaime Sonhy, MI Amorim Ângelo was defeated, due to lack of attendance, against MI Luciano Oliveira, and João Simões beat Edivania Martins.

Also three-time African junior champion (Algeria – 2013, Angola – 2014, Tunisia – 2016), MI Esperança Caxita beat José Borges, and MF Luzia Pires triumphed over Sandira Justino.

MF Domingos Júnior beat Specialist (E) Luther Santos, and MF Ednásia lost to MF Jemima Paulo.

Next round (3rd)

MI David Silva plays with Jaime Sonhy, MF Jemima Paulo faces MF Domingos Júnior, João Simões faces MI Luciano Oliveira, and MI Esperança Caxita will face MF Manuel Alberto.

Furthermore, Luther Santos will play with Alexandre Prospero, José Cambando will meet MF Luzia Pires, and Sandra Justino will face MF Ednásia Júnior.

The tournament is being played in an all-against-all system, over seven rounds, in two parts, at a pace of 60 minutes, plus 15 seconds, from the first movement.

Remember, this is the first edition played with federated players, as in previous editions only workers from Minas Gerais companies participated.
