Africa-Press – Angola. At least 948 foreign citizens were repatriated from Lunda-Sul this year by the Foreign Immigration Service (SME), the director of the agency, Vidal Coutinho, informed on Tuesday, in Saurimo.
Vidal Coutinho said that, of the mentioned number, 774 are in the scope of the Operation Connection, carried out by the authorities from October 19 to the present date and that compared to the previous year, there has been an increase of 117 cases.
He explained that most are citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) that were stopped in markets, public roads, commercial establishments and taxi stands, with most having entered by land.
According to the official, although the river border does not pose great dangers because it is not very frequented, at this stage of the festive season, inspections will be reinforced to curb the entry of foreigners.
