Africa-Press – Angola. On Tuesday, the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, made a series of visits to agro-industrial enterprises located in Abidjan, the capital of Côte d’Ivoire. The visits took place on the sidelines of the 12th “Africa CEO Forum 2025” Summit, held on the 12th and 13th of this month, as part of the program to strengthen national production designed by the Executive based on successful models in African countries.
The head of the economic team took the opportunity to gather experiences from producers on the socio-economic integration of local communities in large agricultural projects, the articulation between agriculture and industry, and their connection with international markets.
For José de Lima Massano, sharing experiences is particularly important in a context in which food products account for around 65 percent of price formation in Angola and continue to exert strong pressure on the demand for foreign currency. The Angolan delegation visited the largest palm oil production company in Côte d’Ivoire, PALMCI, which has been operating for over 60 years throughout the oil palm value chain and employs a total of 7,623 local workers.
The unit, which produces 325,685 tonnes of refined palm oil and 17,252 tonnes of crude palm oil, has a total of 216,000 hectares of palm groves, of which 176,000 hectares are cultivated by 10,000 small farmers, representing 60% of the raw material used.
It also stands out for using production waste to generate energy, produce fibre and raw materials for the cosmetics industry, among other by-products, in a logic of circular economy and sustainability.
