Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, announced institutional support for the Casa do Personnel team in Porto do Lobito, in light of the various sports it brings together.
The official spoke to more than 50 athletes from different sports of the collective, during a visit to its multipurpose pavilion, in the city of Lobito.
According to Palmira Barbosa, the sector he directs, within its possibilities, is available to help this club that over the years has given several athletes to the national teams.
The minister reaffirmed that the Angolan Executive has great responsibilities towards youth, and the practice of sport is a way of removing them from practices that are harmful to society.
The former African handball champion hopes that in the coming years she will be able to see CPPL athletes competing in the various national championships and perhaps in the diaspora.
He praised, on the other hand, the association for maintaining modalities such as handball, basketball, roller hockey and athletics, in both genders.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Porto do Lobito, Celso Rosas, praised the position of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which remains concerned with improving sports infrastructures more and more, in the sense of continuing to occupy the youth with good actions.
He referred that despite the numerous difficulties, Porto do Lobito, within the scope of its social responsibility, will do its best so that young people continue to practice sport in the various modalities that the club has.
He made it known, on the other hand, that the club has received several invitations from European teams in order to exchange experiences and discover new talents, to become great professionals in world sport in the future.
Press knows that among CPPL’s concerns are the need for another sports court for training and a bus for the collection and distribution of athletes.
The Minister of Youth and Sports is on a working visit to the province of Benguela, where last Monday she took an X-ray of various sporting and youth support infrastructures, with emphasis on the Ombaka stadium, the new youth campsite, as well as like the physical education training school paralyzed for over ten years.
The minister’s agenda reserves for Tuesday, visits to the pavilions of 1. de Maio and Sporting de Benguela, as well as to the facilities of the National Club of Benguela.
A meeting with various leaders of associations and youth organizations is also planned.
