Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, exhorted, in Luanda, the National Junior Men’s Handball Team, for a dignified participation in the World Cup, to be held from June 20th to July 2nd, in Germany and Greece.

During the ceremony for handing over the National Flag to the entourage, which took place at the Sports Gallery, the minister asked for greater serenity and delivery.

“It’s important to get good results. Therefore, we must face the big ones so that we are strong” – said the minister.

At the event, Angola is part of group D, alongside Spain, Japan and the Pharaohs Islands.

The delegation, which will be led by the vice-president of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND), Domingos Nascimento, will travel next Sunday (June 4th) to the Portuguese region of Aveiro, where it will complete a competitive training period until the 18th of the same month.

The head coach, William de Almeida, will take 16 players to the stage of the competition. The seventeenth athlete is excluded this Wednesday.

Angola, Algeria, Libya and Tunisia will represent the African continent in this event, to be played in the cities of Magdeburg and Hannover (Germany) and Athens, Greece.

The World Cup in Germany and Greece will be the first with the participation of 32 teams and the second in history to be co-organized by two countries.

The last edition of the race was played in 2019, since the 2021 edition was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
