More than 200 young people complete training in arts and crafts in Saurimo

Africa-Press – Angola. Two hundred and 86 young people from the municipality of Saurimo, province of Lunda-Sul, completed, this Thursday, the first training cycle in arts and crafts, with a view to promoting self-employment, in an initiative by Sociedade Mineira de Catoca.

These are young people from the communities of Saipupu, Sambaia, Luenda, Luari and Caicanga, trained for four months in the areas of building electricity, hygiene and safety at work, IT, auto mechanics, pastry and cooking and the operation of heavy equipment.

When speaking at the event, the deputy director of Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, Paulo Mandela, said that the training program falls within the scope of the institution’s social responsibility policy, which plans to extend, in the coming days, the initiative to other communities in the province , with the aim of reaching a universe of 1,500 young people.

In a message, the young people expressed their satisfaction at benefiting from the training action, highlighting that it will help promote the development of the municipality of Saurimo.

The training took place in several training centers in the province and had the support of the local government, as part of the strategy to promote employability among youth.
