Africa-Press – Angola. Thirty-two Angolan and foreign theater groups will participate, from June 7th to July 7th this year, in the 10th Edition of the Uíge International Theater Festival (Festeauige), part of the celebrations of 107 years since the elevation of the old town of Carmona to the city of Uíge.
These are theater groups from the provinces of Uíge, Luanda, Bengo, Benguela, Cuando Cubango, Cuanza Norte, Cuanza Sul, Huíla, Lunda Norte, and Malange. From abroad, groups from Cape Verde, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo confirmed.
Speaking this Wednesday, the coordinator of Festeauige, Domingos Nicolau, explained that the event aims to promote and popularize theater, giving life to the motto: Culture Strengthens the Nation, more Culture, more Angola”.
The current edition of Festeauige, which will take place simultaneously in the municipality of Negage, has the motto “For the Unity of the Class and for the development of culture, long live the theater”.
Domingos Nicolau added that the innovation of this edition lies in the inclusion of other arts within the festival’s programming schedule, such as traditional dance, folk music, as well as the arts and poetry fair.
The 10th edition of Festeauige also includes lectures on the role of theater as an instrument of social re-education, tributes, training workshops for actors, collective rehearsals to exchange experiences, round tables, debates, solidarity activities, visits to tourist sites and theatrical exhibitions in open and conventional spaces, among other attractions.
