Africa-Press – Angola. The government of Cuanza Norte will invest in the next five years four trillion, 813 billion, 772 million, 319 thousand and 822 kwanzas in the implementation of the Provincial Development Plan (PDP).

The aforementioned plan, for the period 2023 to 2027, calls for 851 projects, 737 of which are local in scope and 114 centrally subordinated, whose funding will be provided by public and private sources.

The information is contained in the Provincial Development Plan approved by the participants at the first Technical Meeting of the Government of Cuanza Norte held, this Thursday, in Ndalatando, under the guidance of the provincial governor, Pedro Makita Júlia.

The plan aims at modernizing and expanding infrastructure, reducing territorial asymmetries, promoting balanced and harmonious development of the province, promoting development and valuing local human capital.

Increasing the level of economic activity in the province and improving the quality of life of the population are also part of the objectives.

With this plan, the province of Cuanza Norte intends to establish itself as the main center of electricity production at national level, hosting energy producing industries.

It also includes the pretensions to promote specialized production in large-scale agriculture and livestock, with export capacity and to supply the manufacturing industry.

Developing the tourism sector, by offering qualified and diversified services, valuing the natural, landscape and historical-cultural resources of the province, taking advantage of the proximity to the largest metropolitan area in the country, Luanda, are other pretensions of the local government for the five years.

Participants also approved the report on the balance of activities carried out in 2022, mainly in the areas of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) and the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PIDLCP).

They became aware of the state of preparation for carnival, edition 2023, whose provincial parade, in the adult class, will take place on the 21st of February, in the space adjacent to the local fair, with the participation of 20 groups, representing 9 of the 10 municipalities of the province.

In this regard, the meeting recommended that the Provincial Office for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports commit itself to creating conditions for the success of the activity.

Speaking at the opening session, Governor Pedro Makita exhorted participants to the need to redouble their efforts to implement the various projects and programs that contribute to improving the living conditions of the local population.

The meeting was attended by distinguished delegates and provincial directors, as well as municipal administrators.
